Historic: India’s First B.R. Ambedkar Subaltern Journalism Award Concluded
Townhall Times: The country’s and the world’s first B.R. Ambedkar Subaltern Journalism Award was successfully held in Delhi. Organized by Townhall Times, a daily Hindi newspaper, in collaboration with Central Law Firm, Delhi, and Lincoln Global Law Chambers, Chennai, this award is the first of its kind, commemorating Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his Mahaparinirvan Diwas (6th December) as a tribute. The president of India had also extended her best wishes for this event through her office communication

The event’s chief guest was renowned news anchor Mr. Darain Shahidi, while the Guests of Honor included Mr. Prabhakaran Lincoln, Chairman of Global Law Chambers, and Mr. Shaktivel, GST Commissioner.

Program Insights:
The event began with a ceremonial tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, including lighting a lamp, floral tributes, reading the Preamble of the Constitution, and concluded with the national anthem.
Chief Guest Mr. Darain Shahidi emphasized the risks of subaltern journalism and the challenges it faces in today’s market-driven environment. He highlighted the need for adaptation and resilience in this field.
Mr. Prabhakaran Lincoln, Chairman of Global Law Chambers, elaborated on Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions to marginalized communities and appreciated the pivotal role of subaltern journalism in contemporary times.
Mr. Shaktivel, GST Commissioner, lauded the initiative, urging communities to strengthen their unity and numbers to effectively claim their rights.
