KETAN  TIWARI

India’s tryst with population is more sinister than what statistics exude. The Middle, Upper Middle and the Rich class Hindus are showing a propensity to have less children than the lower class. As such, the burgeoning poor and destitute population exerts an unceasing pressure on the middle and upper class in the form of taxes levied on them. An astronomical increase of 43% in the Muslim population between 1950 and 2015 is another inimical scenario.

The largesse spent in the form of Free Housing, electricity, medical facility, food grains etc will impede India’s growth eventually. Hence the masquerade of world’s largest ‘Young’ population sequesters the fact that most of it is Unemployable and Undernourished, hardly capable of contributing to India’s growth juggernaut. They are a liability than a leverage.

Sinister immiseration and distorted conditioning could transmute them into potent implement for the anti-national forces to create upheavals in the country.

July 11th is World Population Day, which raises global awareness of population issues. World Population Day, started in 1989, marks the day the world population reached 5 billion. The milestone occurred on July 11, 1987. Two years after “Five Billion Day,” World Population Day was created to raise awareness of the human population. The day has been celebrated annually to teach about human rights, poverty, gender equality, family planning, and population trends. Themes for World Population Day always reflect current demographic trends and challenges. These themes often discuss population growth pros and cons. Rapid population growth strains developing nations’ resources and infrastructure, affecting healthcare, education, and employment. Due to aging populations, many industrialized nations need long-term pensions and elderly healthcare.

On World Population Day, we demand change. On this day, governments and NGOs worldwide work to improve living conditions and sustainable development. Advocacy groups emphasize reproductive health and rights, including contraception and education, so people can make informed decisions for their families and future.

World Population Day helps address and promote long-term solutions to the world’s population crisis. Instead of just highlighting resource scarcity, environmental degradation, and population-driven socioeconomic inequality, the focus is on solutions. Modern approaches emphasize reproductive healthcare and education for women, sustainable urban planning to accommodate growing populations, and economic growth and environmental protection. On this day, the UN and other groups are calling for more comprehensive population policies to combat global warming, wealth inequality, and poverty. World Population Day promotes this multi-pronged approach to equitable and sustainable living for future generations.

DR. OMKAR PRASAD BAIDYA

In this world population day, it is our duty as global citizen to give importance to population and its global issues. In this context, it can be stated that  population is increasing day by day throughout the globe but mostly in developing countries. Population increase or explosion  has immense effect on human lives, nature and its creations, and environment. As human population increases, human beings need to compete with the limited  available resources for maintaining minimum basic requirements like food, shelter, housing, and other basic needs. Hence, there will be increasing struggle for existence and it will increase the incidence of  poverty, unemployment, rising birth rate, and change in mortality rates due illness and disease, there will be increase in food crisis, fall in quality of living and there will be less  human development and welfare. Besides, there will be environmental degradation, atmospheric pollution and ecological imbalance which directly or indirectly effect global temperature, climate, weather, and it may ultimately leads to  natural disaster, etc which can again effect human lives and welfare. Hence, to prevent population explosion and to prevent its side effects, it needs to promote family planning and general awareness to maintain small family and happy family by using appropriate contraceptive method and all these not only can impact human development process but also can solve many global issues and global problems, and thus it can  show us the path towards global peace and global development.

Dr. Omkar Prasad Baidya, born on December 3, 1984, in Agartala, Tripura, India, is a distinguished figure renowned for his multifaceted contributions as an author, educationist, physician, and philosopher. Serving as a faculty member for Physiology at ESIC-PGIMSR and ESI Medical College in Patna, Dr. Baidya has established himself as an expert in both healthcare and education

PARVEEN MAURYA

As the world marks World Population Day on July 11, 2024, we face a pressing issue: the impact of rapid population growth on our planet’s resources. With projections suggesting a global population nearing 10 billion by 2050, the strain on food, healthcare, and sustainable development intensifies. Urgent action is needed to address these challenges, which lead to environmental degradation and resource competition.

This day emphasizes the importance of sustainable development goals, including universal healthcare, education, and gender equality. Education, especially for women and girls, is vital in managing population growth and improving health outcomes. Innovative solutions, like renewable energy and sustainable agriculture, are crucial.

On World Population Day, we must reaffirm our commitment to fostering a sustainable, equitable future. Governments, organizations, and individuals must collaborate to implement policies that prioritize the well-being of people and the planet, ensuring prosperity for future generations.

SONU PRASAD

World Population Day, a significant reminder of the urgent challenges posed by the ever-increasing global population. This year, Sonu Prasad, the founder of the Well Wiser Foundation, a prominent NGO dedicated to sustainable development and social welfare, delivered a powerful message highlighting the critical nature of these issues. His address underscored the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to manage population growth and its far-reaching impacts.

He emphasized that unchecked population growth exacerbates environmental degradation, economic disparity, and social instability. These challenges, if not addressed promptly, threaten to undermine efforts towards achieving sustainable development and global well-being.

A key focus is the importance of education and family planning in managing population growth. We should stressed that empowering individuals, especially women, with access to education and reproductive health services is crucial. By providing comprehensive family planning resources and promoting awareness about the benefits of smaller family sizes, communities can make informed decisions that contribute to sustainable population levels. Education plays a pivotal role in this, as it not only enhances individual well-being but also fosters a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness between population growth and resource sustainability.

One of the key points Mr. Kumar stressed was the need for comprehensive family planning and education. He argued that empowering individuals, especially women, with the knowledge and means to make informed reproductive choices is crucial. Access to contraception and reproductive health services must be expanded, and education on the benefits of smaller family sizes should be integrated into community programs. By promoting family planning, we can help manage population growth and improve the quality of life for countless individuals.

Mr. Kumar also called for sustainable development policies that balance population growth with environmental conservation. He highlighted the importance of investing in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and green infrastructure. These measures not only mitigate the environmental impact of a growing population but also create jobs and stimulate economic growth. By adopting sustainable practices, we can ensure that future generations have access to the resources they need to thrive.
