In the heart of Assam, a young boy named Binoy K. Bordoloi embarked on a journey that would eventually lead him to become a renowned scientist, entrepreneur, and community leader. His story is one of relentless pursuit of knowledge, innovation, and a deep commitment to his cultural roots.

Early Life and Education

Born in Jorhat, Assam, Dr. Bordoloi’s academic brilliance was evident from a young age. He secured the second position in the state during his early education at Jorhat Govt. Higher Secondary School. His quest for knowledge took him to Delhi University, where he completed his B.Sc. (Honors) and M.Sc. in Chemistry. Driven by a passion for scientific discovery, he moved to New York University (NYU) for a Ph.D. in a joint program of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, supported by a Teaching Fellowship.

Professional Milestones

Dr. Bordoloi’s professional journey began in California at Avery Dennison Corp. While working, he pursued an MBA at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and taught as a Visiting Lecturer at the Department of Materials Science & Engineering. His career took a significant turn when he joined Baxter Healthcare Corp., where he set up operations in India for peritoneal dialysis, expanding the business across South Asia and the Far East.

At Johnson & Johnson, Dr. Bordoloi’s innovative spirit shone brightly as he worked in Research & Development in bio-surgery. His contributions led to several patents and advancements in wound management and tissue engineering. After retiring from Johnson & Johnson, he founded Bordoloi Biotech LLC and Bordoloi Biotech India Pvt Ltd (BBIPL), where he developed groundbreaking products like HerboJoint and HerboCare, blending Ayurvedic wisdom with modern science.

Innovations and Achievements

Dr. Bordoloi’s work at Bordoloi Biotech has been nothing short of revolutionary. His development of HerboJoint  and HerboCare, patented topical creams for arthritis pain management, has provided relief to countless individuals. His research on herbal essential oils and their anti-inflammatory properties has been recognized globally, leading to multiple patents and publications.

His entrepreneurial drive and scientific acumen have positioned Bordoloi Biotech as a leader in biotechnology, focusing on inflammation, pain management, tissue engineering, and hemostasis. His philanthropic efforts include donating to the Jorhat Zila Sahitya Sabha and establishing memorials in honor of his parents.

As the Managing Trustee of the Northeast India Education and Social Welfare Trust (NIEDSWET) and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Naamghar Association of America, Inc. (NAAM), Dr. Bordoloi has made significant contributions to community service and cultural preservation. His book, “Naamghar in America,” is a testament to his dedication to preserving Assamese culture and spirituality.

Family and Personal Life

Dr. Bordoloi’s family is a source of immense pride and joy. He and his wife, Bani, have three married children—a daughter with a doctorate in Education, living in New York City, and two sons, both Doctors of Pharmacy graduates, working in the Bay Area. Despite his busy professional life, Dr. Bordoloi has always prioritized his family, balancing his time between their homes in Southern California and New Jersey.
