Shubh Cards: Revolutionizing the Wedding Invitation Industry with Innovation and Tradition

Shubh Cards, a brand under Futuristic Print Vision Pvt Ltd., has been at the forefront of the wedding invitation industry since its inception in 2004. Based in Chennai, Shubh Cards was established with a vision to design and create personalized wedding invitations at a time when standard, off-the-shelf wedding cards were the norm. Over the past two decades, the brand has transformed the market with its pioneering ideas and commitment to innovation.

In the early 2000s, the wedding invitation industry in India was largely conservative. Families would typically choose from a limited set of cards available at stores, with parents or elders often making the final selection. However, as social media began to influence personal tastes and preferences, brides and grooms started playing a more active role in the design of their wedding invitations. “We sit with couples and work on their concepts, helping them bring out the best product,” says Mr. Dhilip Kumar, Founder of Shubh Cards. “With the increasing influence of social media, many brides and grooms come with clear ideas about what they want, and we are here to make that vision a reality.”

While digital invitations are gaining popularity, especially among younger couples, traditional printed invitations remain a cherished part of South Indian weddings. Shubh Cards has successfully blended the old with the new by offering both traditional printed invitations and innovative digital/video invitations. “We’re developing creatively designed digital and video invitations to keep up with the trend, but we understand that many still value the tradition of printed invites,” Mr. Dhilip explains.

One of Shubh Cards’ most memorable projects involved designing a wedding invitation that was personally received by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. The invitation was a luxury box designed for a family in Andhra Pradesh, featuring a “Rama & Seetha in Tanjore Art” theme. The box was crafted from wood, wrapped in burgundy velvet, and adorned with a hand-painted Tanjore glass painting. “The customer was extremely happy with the product,” Mr. Dhilip recalls. “The Honourable Prime Minister appreciated the invitation and the effort that went into it. It was a tremendous honor for us and an inspiring moment for our entire team.”

Shubh Cards has always been at the cutting edge of wedding invitation design, consistently introducing new concepts and materials. From Kalamkari-themed invitations to wedding stationery engraved on steel plates, the brand has pushed the boundaries of creativity. “Our USP has always been customized invitations,” says Mr. Dhilip. “Every year, we come up with innovative ideas. Last year, we designed invitation boxes made from wood and acrylic, with invitations directly engraved on these materials. This year, we’ve introduced multicolored printed boxes and invitations on wooden surfaces.”

From its humble beginnings as a corporate stationery printing firm, Shubh Cards has grown into a well-established, internationally recognized brand in the personalized wedding invitation industry. This success is attributed to the company’s unwavering passion for original designs, continuous evolution, and fearless approach to innovation.

Shubh Cards has been recognized multiple times for its excellence. In 2015, they received the “Best Wedding Invitations” award at Wedding Icons, South India. In 2017, they were honored with the “Best Wedding Stationery” award by Luxury Affair at the Razzmatazz Wedding Awards. More recently, in 2022, Shubh Cards was awarded the “Award for Excellence as Wedding Card Designer” by Global Empire Events at the Icons of Asia.
