Representing ICCDR at the 3rd Preparatory Conference for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Mr. Syed emphasized the pressing financial needs of small island developing states that are on the frontlines of climate change. His advocacy highlights the urgency of establishing more robust financial mechanisms to mitigate the economic and environmental challenges these nations face due to rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and environmental degradation. During the conference, Mr. Syed actively engaged with representatives from ECOSOC-accredited organizations, including the Society for International Development and the MENA FEM Movement, to address key issues outlined in the Zero Draft on Climate Finance.
