In a remarkable display of dedication, discipline, and strength, 10-year-old Devanshi from Ahmedabad has achieved an extraordinary feat by setting a world record in holding the Vajrasana pose for an astounding 2 hours and 20 minutes. The event, which took place in her hometown of Ahmedabad, has put the young prodigy on the global map for her unprecedented achievement in the field of yoga.
Devanshi, a student of the renowned Ahmedabad Academy of Martial Arts (AAMA), trained rigorously for more than a year and a half under expert guidance to accomplish this milestone. Her passion for yoga and her relentless commitment to the ancient practice have not only made her a world record holder but have also inspired many others, particularly young children, to take up yoga seriously.
The Journey to a World Record
Devanshi’s journey to breaking a world record began when she was just eight years old. She enrolled in AAMA Academy, initially drawn to the academy for its reputation in producing top-tier athletes in karate and Yoga. Under the watchful eye of highly experienced coaches and instructors at AAMA Academy, Devanshi’s interest in yoga, especially in challenging poses like Vajrasana, blossomed.
Vajrasana, also known as the “Thunderbolt Pose” or “Diamond Pose,” is considered one of the most foundational asanas in yoga. While it is a simple pose to adopt, holding it for extended periods demands an immense amount of focus, stamina, and controlled breathing. The pose strengthens the lower back and legs, improves digestion, and calms the mind, making it a popular posture in meditative practices.
Devanshi’s coach quickly recognized her potential. Her ability to remain perfectly still and focused, coupled with her calm and disciplined demeanor, made her an ideal candidate to attempt the world record. The road ahead, however, was not easy.
Rigorous Training and Support
For the next 18 months, Devanshi dedicated herself to mastering the Vajrasana pose. She practiced daily, starting with just a few minutes and gradually increasing her endurance under the guidance of her instructors. The Founder Of AAMA closely monitored her progress, focusing not just on her physical abilities but also on developing her mental strength.
“Yoga is about more than just physical endurance. To hold a pose like Vajrasana for that long requires a deep mental calm and balance. Devanshi was exceptional in understanding this from the beginning,” said Manish Hemrajani Founder of Ahmedabad Academy of Martial Arts.
The academy, which has already garnered attention for producing national and international champions in various disciplines, proudly sponsored Devanshi’s world record attempt. As the only academy in the region with district, state, national, and international winners in Karate and Yoga AAMA’s support was instrumental in providing the young athlete with the resources and encouragement she needed.
“At Ahmedabad Academy Of Martial Arts, we believe in nurturing the all-around development of our students. We are immensely proud of Devanshi’s achievement. This is just the beginning for her, and we look forward to supporting her in future endeavors,” said the academy’s founder.
Devanshi’s training also included extensive guidance on proper breathing techniques, nutrition, and mental relaxation exercises to help her maintain focus for longer periods. She underwent regular physical assessments to ensure her body was in peak condition, minimizing any risk of injury during the long hours of practice.
The Record-Breaking Day
On the day of the record attempt, Devanshi stepped onto the stage with quiet confidence. After months of preparation, she was ready to face the challenge. As she moved gracefully into the Vajrasana pose, the room grew silent in anticipation. For the next 2 hours and 20 minutes, Devanshi remained perfectly still, her face calm and focused as she held the pose with unwavering precision.
When the timer hit 2 Hours 20 minutes, the audience erupted into applause, celebrating the new world record. Devanshi had done it – she had set a world record for holding the Vajrasana pose, a feat no other child her age had accomplished. The judges present confirmed the time and declared the record official.
“I was nervous at first, but once I focused on my breathing, I felt calm,” Devanshi said with a smile of quiet confidence. “I’m really happy to have achieved this record, but I know I couldn’t have done it without the support of my family and especially Manish Sir, who recognized my commitment and constantly motivated me.”
A Source of Inspiration
Devanshi’s achievement has not only earned her a place in the record books but has also inspired young children across the country to pursue yoga and other physical disciplines. Yoga experts across India have praised her determination and hope that her record will encourage more children to take an interest in yoga from an early age.
“We are extremely proud of Devanshi’s success. She has shown that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible. Her record is a testament to the importance of discipline and perseverance,” said one of her coaches.
The Ahmedabad Academy of Martial Arts is also planning to celebrate her success with a special ceremony, where Devanshi will be honored for her dedication and outstanding achievement.
Looking Ahead
Setting a world record at the age of 10 is an extraordinary achievement, but it marks just the beginning of Devanshi’s journey. With the unwavering support of AAMA and her family, she is determined to push her limits further in both yoga and karate. Devanshi plans to take on more challenging asanas while continuing to excel in karate, with her sights set on representing India on the global stage. Her ultimate dream is to compete in the Olympics, showcasing her skills in both karate and yoga on an international platform.
As the Ahmedabad Academy of Martial Arts continues to nurture talented athletes like Devanshi, it is clear that this young record-holder’s journey is far from over. Her accomplishment has not only brought pride to her academy and city but has also proven that with the right training and mindset, age is no barrier to success.
For now, Devanshi remains a humble and determined young girl, eager to take on the next challenge, whatever it may be. Her record-breaking feat in Vajrasana has inspired many, and her future looks incredibly bright.
